I stumbled on my favorite designer around the time I was in high school. I remember flipping through my uncle’s copy of Details magazine (RIP Details). I came across this ad for a Tom Ford fragrance. The photo was simple: a closeup shot of a woman clutching a bottle of Tom Ford between her legs. After that, I had to know more about this designer for such a bold choice. I guess that tells you a lot about my taste in fashion. But Tom Ford has been my favorite designer ever since that moment. One of my buddies recently asked me about my favorite Tom Ford fragrances. Cos Bar has one of the biggest selections of Tom Ford fragrances. So I reached out to Cos Bar here in Lexington to see if they could help me pinpoint the best Tom Ford fragrances for men.
Best Tom Ford Fragrances for Men
Black Orchid is marketed towards women but works for men as well. As the name suggests, it’s a floral scent including notes of jasmine and gardenia. But it also includes bergamot, sandalwood, amber and vanilla that gives the fragrance a dark and sensual vibe. Those notes make the fragrance suitable for guys too. Black Orchid retails for $107 for the 1.7oz bottle and $140 for 3.4oz.
Ombre Leather is one of Tom Ford’s latest unisex scents. Western-inspired fashion is trendy right now and this scent compliments the trend. Ombre Leather is spicy and dark from the cardamom, black leather, and amber notes. But the jasmine and patchouli give it some layers and lightness, which is why it works great for men and women. Ombre Leather retails for $125 for 1.7oz and $175 for 3.4oz.
Eau de Soliel Blanc might be too light for some. But I’d consider it an option during the warmer months. Eau de Soliel Blanc is a lighter version of the original private blend. Its notes include vert de bergamot, orange bitter, ylang ylang from the Comoros Island and pistachio accord. So the fragrance is citrusy and floral but there’s also a freshness about it that makes it an option for guys. Eau de Soliel Blanc retails for $125 for 1.7oz.
Noir Extreme is one of my most recent purchases. It’s everything I love about cologne: sweet, spicy, and dark. Its notes include mandarin oil, cardamom, orange flower, amber, and sandalwood. I would say this is a good place to start is if you want to get a sense of what Tom Ford Beauty is all about. Noir Extreme retails for $122 for 1.7oz. and $166 for 3.4oz.
Tom Ford for Men is the fragrance whose ad I was referring to earlier. As the photos would suggest, Tom Ford for Men is a straight up sexy fragrance. It contains Italian bergamot, mandarin zest, grapefruit, from Morocco, amber, and cedarwood. So this fragrance is spicy and woodsy but also a bit sweet. Tom Ford for Men retails for $97 for 1.7oz. and $130 for 3.4oz.
Mandarino di Amalfi Aqua is another fragrance I have in my collection. I love this scent because it reminds me of my study abroad in Italy. It’s citrusy and sweet but also crisp and fresh. Its notes include lemon, basil, spearmint, and jasmine. Mandarino di Amalfi Aqua retails for $125 for 1.7oz.
